Bela Krajina wine tasting & Kolpa river

Bela Krajina is Slovenia as it once was — white birch trees, rolling vineyard hills and the warm green Kolpa river tracing the Croatian border. A day of local winemakers, easy canoeing and honest farmhouse food.

What we see

  • Wine tasting with hand-picked Bela Krajina winemakers (Metliška črnina, Chardonnay, Yellow Muscat)
  • A gentle canoe or kayak descent on the Kolpa river — great for beginners
  • Metlika, Črnomelj and the riverside birch groves
  • Traditional Bela Krajina pogača flatbread and farmhouse lunch
  • Swimming in the warm Kolpa in summer

How the day works

A morning canoe descent on the calm Kolpa (gear and shuttle arranged), lunch at a local farm, then an afternoon with one or two winemakers for a guided tasting. Usually 8–10 hours.

Who it suits

Wine lovers, active guests and anyone who wants to experience Slovenia far from the usual tourist trail. The canoe section is easy and safe, suitable for families too.

Combine it

It pairs nicely with the Dolenjska region, Žužemberk Castle or the island of Kostanjevica on the Krka river.
