Bled is the jewel of the Julian Alps: an emerald lake, Slovenia's only island with a church at the top of 99 steps, and a clifftop castle more than a thousand years old. With me you experience it at the right time, from the best viewpoints, with stories you won't find in any guidebook.

The island and wishing bell
A traditional pletna boat to the island, then 99 steps up to the church to ring the wishing bell.
Bled Castle
Slovenia's oldest castle, with views over the lake and the Julian Alps.

No visit to Bled is complete without this sweet treat.
How the day works
Pick-up at your hotel, apartment or Ljubljana airport, an unhurried tour of the lake and castle, time for lunch at a family-run restaurant, and a return whenever suits you. Usually 5–8 hours.
Why book a private guide
I know when the lake is at its calmest, where to park in high season and which viewpoints catch the best light. I also take a few photographs for you along the way.
Combine it
Bled pairs beautifully with Lake Bohinj, Vintgar Gorge or Triglav National Park as a full-day loop.

Explore with me
- Pick-up from your accommodation, pletna and tickets arranged in advance, the best viewpoints at the right time, Bled's stories and legends, and photographs to remember your day.
Explore independently
Reach Bled by bus from Ljubljana (about 1 h 15 min). Walk or cycle around the lake (6 km). Come early in the morning, before the tour groups arrive.
Best time to visit
May–June and September–October: fewer crowds, a calm lake and beautiful light. In winter, Bled is a snowy fairytale.
