Plitvice Lakes National Park
🇭🇷 CROATIAA fairytale world of lakes and waterfalls, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Plitvice Lakes are a chain of 16 lakes cascading into one another over waterfalls and travertine barriers. Wooden boardwalks take you right above the turquoise water, and the largest waterfall drops 78 metres. One of Europe's most beautiful natural wonders.

How the day works
An early departure from Ljubljana or Bled (about a 3-hour drive), park entry before the main crowds, a circular route along the lakes with the boat and shuttle, and an evening return. Usually 10–12 hours.
Why book a private guide
I reserve the tickets in advance, choose the best entrance and time to visit, and point out where the light is best for photographs. In high season tickets sell out and you cannot enter without one.
Good to know
The trip involves 5–8 km of walking on boardwalks, so comfortable footwear is recommended. The park is open all year; autumn brings the most dramatic colours.

You'll need a car (about 2 h 30 min from Ljubljana) or a bus from Zagreb. In summer, tickets must be bought online in advance.
Best time to visit
April–June (waterfalls at their strongest) and October (autumn colours). Very busy in summer.
