Plitvice Lakes is Croatia's oldest and most beautiful national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sixteen terraced lakes, wooden boardwalks over the water and hundreds of waterfalls — the day most guests describe as the highlight of their holiday.
Check availability
An early departure from Ljubljana or Bled (about a 3-hour drive), park entry before the main crowds, a circular route along the lakes with the boat and shuttle, and an evening return. Usually 10–12 hours.
I reserve the tickets in advance, choose the right entrance and hour, and point out where the light is best for photographs. In high season tickets sell out and you cannot enter without one.
The trip involves 5–8 km of walking on boardwalks, so comfortable footwear is recommended. The park is open all year; autumn brings the most dramatic colours.
