Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle
An underground world of stalactites and a castle that has clung to a cliff for over 800 years.
You enter Postojna Cave on an underground train and walk through halls of stalactites formed over millions of years. Just a few kilometres away awaits Predjama Castle, built into the mouth of a cave in the middle of a cliff – along with the legend of the knight Erazem.

How the day works
I buy the tickets in advance so we skip the queue. The cave tour takes about 90 minutes, then the castle and a stop for lunch.

I choose the right entry time, bring a warm blanket for the cave (it is 10 °C inside) and tailor the stories to the ages and interests of your group.

Explore independently
Reach Postojna by train or bus from Ljubljana (about 1 h). In summer a free shuttle runs to Predjama; otherwise you'll need a car. Buy tickets online in advance.
Best time to visit
Ideal all year round, even on rainy days and in winter. In summer, choose the first morning slot.
